Summer Camp
Must-Have:
- Completed medical form
- Prescribed medications (to be given to the scoutmaster; medications will be held and administered by the camp medical staff)
- Scout uniform (Class A, the ones we wear to troop meeting)
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad
- Jacket or sweater (evenings/mornings/night classes can be chilly)
- Poncho or raincoat
- Socks (one pair per day)
- Non-distracting T-shirts or other shirts as needed
- Underwear (one per day)
- Shorts
- Long pants
- Pajamas or sweats
- Swim trunks and towel (worn or easily accessible on Monday for swim check)
- Waterproof footwear or water shoes
- Comfortable shoes for trails and around camp
- Toiletries kit (soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, comb, mirror, toenail clipper, toilet tissue, etc.)
- Headlamp or flashlight (and extra batteries)
- Watch (or another way to tell time)
- Insect repellent
- Notebook and pen/pencil
- Small daypack
- Water bottle
- Scout knife (with blades less than 4 inches long)
Optional But Recommended:
- Pillow
- Laundry bag
- Sunglasses
- Fishing tackle (particularly if taking fishing merit badges)
- Sewing kit/repair kit
- Scriptures
- Boy Scout Handbook
- Camera
- Personal first aid kit
- Utensils for special cookouts
- Compass
- Umbrella
- Spending money
Things to leave at home:
- Phone (if it’s going to be a distraction)
- Video games
- Valuable items (electronics, jewelry, etc.)
- Weapons (real or simulated)
- Fireworks
- All aerosol cans
- Anything that would distract from the scouting atmosphere, camp activities, and appreciation of nature that should prevail at camp
