Basic Flag Ceremony
OPENING Flag Ceremony (caps are spoken by caller)
- Color Guard should be at back of room with flag.
- (Only if necessary) Scout Sign to bring room to order.
- “COLOR GUARD ATTENTION” (look at them to make sure they’re paying attention)
- “WILL THE AUDIENCE PLEASE RISE” (give audience time to rise)
- “COLOR GUARD, POST THE COLORS.” (PAUSE) “SCOUT SALUTE!” (salute toward the flag)
- Color guard advances and posts the colors in the base.
- “PLEASE JOIN US IN THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. (PAUSE) “I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE…”
- “TWO!” (drop salute)
- “COLOR GUARD, RETREAT.” (they walk in order to back of room)
- “COLOR GUARD, DISMISSED TO THEIR SEATS.”
- (color guard, caller, and audience sit)
CLOSING Flag Ceremony
- “COLOR GUARD, ATTENTION!” (they gather at back of room)
- “WILL THE AUDIENCE PLEASE RISE.” (give them time to rise)
- “COLOR GUARD, ADVANCE.”
- “COLOR GUARD, RETRIEVE THE COLORS.”
- (When flagpole comes out of stand/base) “SCOUT SALUTE!” (give salute toward flag)
- (Color guard takes flag, and base, and walk single-file to back. Post flag in base at back of room or out in hall.)
- “TWO” (all drop salute)
- “COLOR GUARD, DISMISSED. PEASE BE SEATED.”
- (color guard/caller and audience sit)
