Merit Badge Rally Tips
A Scout is Prepared:
- Scouts must bring a blue merit badge application card, signed by their Scoutmaster, for every merit badge they plan to earn.
- Scouts must prepare in advance by becoming familiar with requirements and doing any necessary preparation work and prerequisite requirements.
- Some requirements require demonstrations that can’t be done at a rally. These must be completed before the rally, the scout must bring certification (from their Scoutmaster or a qualified adult acceptable to their Scoutmaster) that they have completed the requirement. All projects, paperwork, or other materials for requirements should be brought to the rally.
- Scouts may either complete (if adequately prepared) or partially pass-off one or more merit badges at the rally. An incomplete merit badge card is called a “partial”.
- Partials worked on previously will be accepted, regardless of the date. To complete a partial, scouts must bring the partial blue card(s) signed by the Scoutmaster.
- Merit Badge pamphlets are available in the scout shop and are highly recommended (but not always necessary).
Be sure to thank the volunteers who have agreed to be merit badge counselors at the rally.
